Super Bowl Ads

I’m sure by now you’ve talked to at least one coworker by the water cooler about your favorite Super Bowl XLV commercials. After all, the commercials are the real reason most of us watch the game anyway. MSN has already published its list of the ten best and ten worst ads of February 6th. The notables from the worst list were Adrian Brody’s crying crooner Strella Artois commercial, the firework breathing dragon from Coca Cola, and the Pepsi can to the crotch.
I especially agree with the crooning beer commercial. This beer is popular in Belgium but the humor didn’t seem to translate. That’s probably the mos expensive mistake that company will ever make.
As far as Coca Cola’s dragon commercial, I liked it. It kind of had a little kid feel, but Coca Cola hasn’t always been highbrow. The animation was well done and the spot had a sense of epic-ness you don’t see in commercials anymore.
MSN also derides the Pepsi commercial that featured a cooler that could shoot cans at people’s crotches. While, yes, this humor really live out its welcome back on America’s Funniest Home Videos, this commercial wasn’t as bad as the Pepsi “first date” spot. MSN seems to think that one was one of the best. I couldn’t disagree more.
By the time the fourth quarter wrapped and Packers were enjoying their 3 point victory, I would have to say my favorites were the Bridgestone Tires email spot reply and the Volkswagen Darth Vader ad. Both had me laughing. The tire commercial though had me laughing hard. If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to. The breakneck paced ad is a comedic gem.
But enough about my favorites, what commercial did end up loving. Which ads did you hate? I’d love to hear you sound off in the comments below.
