Yeah what a headline!

Guns and Ball Park Heroes. Makes a change from sports stars and steroids, or other controlled substances and celebrities. So I followed the MSN story and felt that I don’t know enough about baseball. Or do I already know too much? Some will immediately recognize our man in the middle. Nice hat. Some will not know they are looking at one Evan Longoria, AL rookie of the year 2008.

“It’s a personal item,” Longoria said about his AK-47 but the baseball star decided not to elaborate on the reason he had the gun, commonly regarded as an assault rifle. “Obviously, they (authorities) are going to say things that are taken. I think everything within the house is personal, and we’ll just leave it at that.” There are other items missing along with the weapon after a mid-day break at the Tampa Bay rental shared by Longoria,  pitcher David Price and shortstop Reid Brignac. Wow! my wife is in Tampa for a few days. Hope she wasn’t itching to get herself an AK-47. Come home soon honey, remember you can’t take it on the plane .

Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office,  released the information, and announced that the gun was “perfectly legal” and “absolutely, perfectly legitimate, fully documented.”They also explained that the thieves gained access to the house,  which is on Fernwood Street near  Charlotte Sports Park, through an unlocked window.  This was while the players were at the stadium. There is a $56,000 estimate of the value of the missing stuff, and the players’ themselves said that a 60-inch flat-screen TV, three iPads, two Xbox game systems, plus some cash, a laptop and several fancy watches are gone.
